Raymond Cua, an award-winning Canadian travel & food creator, blogger and YouTuber behind Travelling Foodie & Journey Traveler visited 3 of Broadway’s best restaurants and bakeries!
Saskatoon’s culinary scene left a good impression on Cua during his first visit to the city in 2024. After collaborating with Discover Saskatoon for his second culinary project, it’s safe to say the places Cua visited on Broadway left a good impression on him.
Christies Il Secondo

Cua visited Christies Il Secondo, the Broadway location of Christies Bakery. Home to Saskatoon’s first wood-fired Neapolitan-style pizza, online recommendations convinced Cua to try the bakery’s sandwiches and baked goods. He ultimately chose to pair a Cortado with their Breakfast Croissant.
For Cua, adding pancetta to the Breakfast Croissant made it the perfect, hearty breakfast before his flight back home to Toronto.

Happy Hi Bakery

Tucked in a small building on Main Street is a hidden gem among Saskatoon bakeries. Happy Hi Bakery was another stop on Cua’s list, as locals recommended its fluffy yeast-based donuts.
He tried the Caramel Apple Fritter, which he found recommended online, and their highly popular Butter Toast Donut, covered with brown butter croissant crumbs.
We can agree with Cua that Happy Hi Bakery’s donuts sell out fast, as they operate only as a takeout bakery. Make sure to come early and get their fresh donuts!

Paradox Pizzeria & Brewery

After celebrating its 1st anniversary back in July, Paradox Pizzeria & Brewery has already become a Broadway favourite for locals, pizza-lovers and tourists like Cua.
With numerous Reddit reviews praising Paradox for having Saskatoon’s best thick-crust pizza, Cua had to try it himself. He tried two of their Detroit-style pizzas: The Trismegistus, containing pepperoni, prosciutto and Italian sausage, and the McKenna, which had roasted garlic and three kinds of cheeses.
The verdict? The thick, chewy, airy dough and crispy caramelized cheese crust satisfied Cua’s taste buds. To top it off, he tried Paradox’s Into the Aether Irish Red Ale, served on a Nitro tap.
