Reminder: Broadway Bridge Closure is Ongoing
Saskatoon’s beloved 93-year-old Broadway Bridge will undergo significant rehabilitation starting in May, with a full closure expected until October. Work includes deck repairs, new asphalt, barrier upgrades, removal of old utilities under the bridge, and improvements to the arches and railings. It’s the first major work on the bridge since 1987!
Update on the Broadway Link Rapid Transit Constructions

In order to work on the traffic signals for the Link system, there will be detours in place
along the stretch of Broadway between 11th and 12th streets (see map below). Detours
will begin on June 2 and will be removed on June 6th, barring any unforeseen delays.
Please follow the detour signage.
While our intention is to make this closure have as little impact as possible, we
recognize the inconvenience to those using the area.
What’s the impact? On street parking on the east side of Broadway Avenue between
11th and 12th Street will be inaccessible during this time. In addition, the school bus
loading zone along 12th Street will be extended all the way between Broadway Ave and
Dufferin Ave, allowing buses to enter from University Drive. Temporary signs will be
installed to indicate school bus loading only. No further sidewalk closures are
anticipated.
Full closures during construction:
- Broadway Bridge (including multi-use pathways on both sides)
- Broadway Avenue from Saskatchewan Crescent East to 20th Street East
- 19th Street East from 3rd Avenue South to Broadway Avenue
- 4th Avenue South from 19th Street East to 20th Street East
What to expect during construction
- Construction will take place from May until fall 2025 (exact timelines to be determined).
- Due to the full bridge closure, drivers, cyclists and pedestrians must consider alternate routes.
- Businesses will receive a Construction Notice with more information a few weeks prior to bridge rehabilitation and Link platform construction beginning.
- Most of the work will take place between 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. There may be situations where work takes place outside of those hours, but contractors will adhere to City bylaws.
- Project updates will be provided every two weeks throughout the duration of the Broadway Bridge Rehabilitation Project.
Alternate routes: Use the Traffic Bridge or Senator Sidney L. Buckwold Bridge.
