For four decades, Broadway has been shaped by the businesses, residents, visitors, volunteers, community organizations and partners who continue to bring the district to life.
In 2026, the Broadway Business Improvement District is celebrating its 40th anniversary, and the community is invited to join the celebration.

Join Us for Broadway’s 40th Birthday Bash
On Tuesday, August 25, 2026, the Broadway Business Improvement District will host Broadway’s 40th Birthday Bash at the Broadway Community Patio.
Date: Tuesday, August 25, 2026
Time: 11:00 AM –2:00 PM
Location: Broadway Community Patio
The free community gathering will recognize Broadway’s history while celebrating the people and local businesses that have helped make the district a gathering place and neighbourhood destination since 1986.
Throughout the afternoon, guests will be invited to enjoy birthday treats, create custom Broadway birthday buttons, explore pieces of the district’s history and contribute to interactive anniversary activities.
Visitors can add a favourite story to the 40 Years of Memories Wall, share what they love about Broadway and submit a wish or prediction for what the district could look like in 2066.
The celebration will also feature music inspired by 1986, historic photos and opportunities to purchase Broadway merchandise or make an optional donation in support of future community events and programming. Activities and complimentary treats will be available while supplies last.
Celebrating the People Behind Broadway
Broadway’s history cannot be told through buildings, streets or events alone. Its story is rooted in the people who have opened businesses, welcomed customers, organized community initiatives, volunteered their time and created memorable experiences throughout the district.
Over the past 40 years, Broadway has continued to evolve while maintaining the independent, creative and community-focused character that makes it unique.
The anniversary provides an opportunity to recognize that history, thank those who have contributed to the district and look ahead to what Broadway’s next chapter could become.
Share Your Broadway Story
Community members are encouraged to bring their memories, stories and hopes for the future to the celebration.
Whether you have been visiting Broadway for decades, operate a business in the district, live nearby or recently discovered the neighbourhood, you are part of Broadway’s continuing story.
Join us on August 25 as we celebrate 40 years of local business, community connection and Broadway memories and begin imagining the next 40 years together.
