Broadway’s public spaces offer opportunities for creativity, community connection and small-scale programming.
Musicians, performers, artists, instructors and community organizations may apply to use designated spaces for activities that are welcoming, respectful and appropriate for the district.
Available spaces and approval requirements vary.
Broadway Community Patio
The Broadway Community Patio is a public gathering space intended to support connection, rest and community activity.
It may be suitable for:
- Small workshops
- Arts and crafts
- Community conversations
- Information sharing
- Acoustic performances
- Small classes
- Storytelling
- Public community activities
The patio remains open to the public during most programming. Approved use does not necessarily provide exclusive access.
Applicants are responsible for confirming what furniture, power and equipment are available.
Little Stone Stage
The Little Stone Stage may be suitable for:
- Solo musicians
- Duos and small groups
- Spoken-word performances
- Cultural performances
- Small public presentations
- Family-friendly entertainment
Performers may be responsible for their own:
- Instruments
- Sound equipment
- Extension cords
- Seating
- Weather protection
- Setup and takedown
Amplification and power use must be approved in advance.
Busking Opportunities
Designated Broadway locations may be available for busking and informal public performance.
Busking may include:
- Acoustic music
- Singing
- Instrumental performance
- Spoken word
- Family-friendly entertainment
- Other suitable public performance
Busking opportunities do not guarantee:
- Payment
- An audience
- Exclusive use of a location
- Equipment
- Electricity
- Weather protection
- Promotion by the Broadway BID
Voluntary audience contributions may be permitted where confirmed, but performers may not pressure people to donate or block pedestrian movement.
General Expectations
All approved activities must:
- Be welcoming and appropriate for a public setting
- Keep sidewalks, entrances and accessible routes clear
- Respect nearby businesses, residents and visitors
- Follow approved times and locations
- Remain within agreed sound levels
- Avoid discriminatory, hateful or harassing content
- Comply with applicable laws, permits and safety requirements
- End promptly when requested by authorized staff
- Leave the space clean and undamaged
Approval may be withdrawn when requirements are not followed.
What to Include in Your Request
Applicants should be prepared to provide:
- Individual, group or organization name
- Primary contact information
- Description of the activity
- Preferred date and time
- Expected duration
- Number of participants
- Equipment requirements
- Power or sound requirements
- Accessibility considerations
- Links to performance samples, when applicable
- Promotional photograph, when applicable
- Insurance or permit information, when required

Please apply as early as possible. Review time may vary depending on the activity, date, location and permits involved.
Submitting a form does not confirm the booking.
Applicants must receive written approval before:
- Advertising the activity
- Inviting participants
- Selling tickets
- Arranging equipment
- Using the Broadway name or logo
- Listing the BBID as a partner
Promotion
Approved activities may be considered for promotion through Broadway channels, but promotion is not guaranteed.
Organizers may be asked to provide:
- A short event description
- Confirmed date and time
- Accessibility information
- A promotional image
- Social-media handles
- Registration information
- Photo or artist credits
All public information must be accurate and approved.
Weather and Cancellations
Outdoor activities may be affected by:
- Rain
- Wind
- Heat
- Smoke or poor air quality
- Severe weather
- Construction
- Safety concerns
- Conflicting programming
Organizers should have a cancellation or postponement plan.
The Broadway BID may cancel or relocate an activity when conditions create operational or safety concerns.
