The BBID is in its 37th year of animating and promoting Saskatoon’s beloved, historic, and contemporary commercial district to local visitors and tourists. The BBID supports over 150 independent merchants in the district, operating as a not-for-profit agency run by a Board of Directors. The BBID is also home to schools, churches, and arts and culture organizations.

The BBID works closely with the City of Saskatoon, the Nutana Community Association, other BIDs, festival organizers and others to bring out the best of Broadway’s village atmosphere. The BBID is dedicated to creating a strong sense of community and vibrancy that brings people together and attracts visitors.

Currently the BBID is looking for an Executive Director who can help lead this historic district at an exciting time for Saskatoon.

Executive Director Roles and Responsibilities
The Executive Director has four key areas of responsibility:
• District Leadership and Collaboration
• Organizational Management
• Broadway District Advocation
• Marketing and Communications

The BBID Executive Director is a leader in the community – gathering new ideas, identifying opportunities, cultivating common ground among diverse partners, and building a vibrant future for the district.


The BBID Executive Director must be adept to handling both leadership roles and managing day-to-day operations that include Human Resources, Financial Management, Board Relations, and Office Management.


The BBID is a small office with one Events/Administrative employee, seasonal maintenance staff, volunteers, and a summer intern. This requires an Executive Director to manage time and various responsibilities efficiently, and has the capacity to work independently.


Skills
• Collaborative leadership skills, able to problem solve, and conflict management.
• Communicates effectively and builds confidence in those around you.
• Knowledge in non-profit organizations such as governance, working with the Board of Directors, financial management, revenue development including grant writing, Human Resources, Operations, and Marketing Communications.
• Creative, innovative, entrepreneurial, and able to identify opportunities and new approaches to your work.
• Adaptive of new technologies, concepts, social media, and trends.
• Interest in Urban Design and the political, economic, and community-related issues facing urban areas.
• Ability to articulate the vision and brand of the district in a wide variety of settings and manage sensitive issues.
• Relationship building and managing.
• Knowledge of current events, real estate, and market trends.

Qualifications
Educational background in Communication, Marketing, Political Science or Business Administration.
Background in event planning, managing a small business, or community economic development would be an asset.

Compensation
$65,000 to $75,000 depending on experience.
