The Broadway Business Improvement District (BBID) is seeking a dynamic and community-driven Executive Director to lead one of Saskatoon’s most vibrant and historic commercial districts.
For more than 40 years, the BBID has animated and promoted Broadway, a beloved historic and contemporary district home to over 160 independent merchants, as well as schools, churches, arts, and cultural organizations. Governed by a volunteer Board of Directors, the BBID works closely with the City of Saskatoon, the Nutana Community Association, other BIDs, and community partners to strengthen Broadway’s distinctive village atmosphere.

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director (ED) is responsible for the strategic leadership and day-to-day management of the organization. The ED serves as the voice and champion of the Broadway district, fostering collaboration among merchants, property owners, community stakeholders, and municipal partners.

Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Collaboration
- Lead and implement a shared vision for the district.
- Build strong relationships with merchants, property owners, community partners, and city departments.
- Represent the BBID in public forums, committees, and community initiatives.
- Advance advocacy priorities on behalf of Broadway businesses.
Organizational Management
- Oversee daily operations of a small staff team, including volunteers and seasonal workers.
- Manage finances, budgeting, reporting, and annual audits.
- Support and work closely with the Board of Directors to implement strategic priorities.
- Identify and secure grants, sponsorships, and in-kind donations.
District Activation & Development
- Lead placemaking initiatives that enhance Broadway’s vibrancy and appeal.
- Oversee and support events, festivals, and third-party activities in the district.
- Support streetscaping, maintenance coordination, and beautification efforts.
- Encourage business attraction and retention aligned with Broadway’s character.
Marketing & Communications
- Serve as chief spokesperson and steward of the Broadway brand.
- Oversee social media, website, and marketing initiatives.
- Promote Broadway through partnerships with tourism and community organizations.
- Ensure consistent and engaging communication with members and stakeholders.
Qualifications
- Post-secondary education in Communications, Marketing, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Experience working with a Board of Directors and understanding of non-profit governance.
- Demonstrated leadership, relationship-building, and conflict resolution skills.
- Experience in financial management and revenue development (grant writing, sponsorships).
- Background in event planning, small business management, or community economic development is an asset.
- Strong communication skills and ability to articulate a compelling vision.
- Interest in urban development, community building, and local economic trends.
Salary Range: $60,000 – $85,000 (commensurate with experience)
