Broadway is shaped by more than its buildings, businesses and events.
It is shaped by people.
It is the person who opened a business after years of dreaming. The employee who welcomes familiar customers each week. The artist who found their first audience here. The family that returns every year for a favourite tradition. The visitor who came for an afternoon and left with a lasting memory.
People of Broadway is a new storytelling campaign celebrating the people and experiences that bring the district to life.
We Want to Hear Your Broadway Story
We are inviting business owners, employees, artists, performers, residents, visitors, volunteers and community members to share their connection to Broadway.
You do not need to be well-known or have a dramatic story. Some of the most meaningful stories are found in everyday experiences.
Your story might be about:
- Why you opened or joined a business on Broadway
- A memorable interaction with a customer or community member
- Your first job, performance or event in the district
- A family tradition connected to Broadway
- A friendship or relationship that began here
- A challenge you overcame
- A place on Broadway where you feel welcome
- How the district has changed during your time here
- What you hope Broadway will become in the future
How the Campaign Works
To participate, complete the People of Broadway submission form.
The form will ask for some basic information about you, your connection to Broadway and the story you may be interested in sharing. You may also submit a photograph or indicate that you are open to having one taken.
Submitting the form does not guarantee that every story will be published. Stories may be selected based on available space, campaign timing and our goal of representing a wide range of Broadway experiences.
When a story is selected, a BBID team member may contact you to ask follow-up questions or arrange a short conversation.
Before publication, participants will have an opportunity to review the final story and confirm how their name, photograph and information will be used.
Your Story, Your Choice
We want this campaign to be respectful, collaborative and grounded in informed consent.
Participants may indicate:
- The name they would like us to use
- Their pronouns, when they wish to share them
- Whether their business or organization may be identified
- Whether their submitted photograph may be used
- Whether they would prefer a new photograph
- Whether there are parts of their story they do not want published
Participants under 18 must have permission from a parent or legal guardian.
We will not knowingly publish private, sensitive or identifying information without permission. Participants may also contact the BBID if they have concerns about how their story is being presented.

It is built from thousands of experiences, memories, relationships and moments of connection.
