The Broadway Business Improvement District Board of Directors is pleased to announce the new Executive Director, DeeAnn Mercier.
Previously employed as the Communications Director at the Lighthouse Supported Living, a local emergency shelter and non-profit housing provider, DeeAnn served as a public voice for the Lighthouse and its residents. Working with local leaders, she has served on the Saskatoon Plan to End Homelessness Committee, the Saskatoon Police Advisory Committee on Cultural Diversity, and helped plan YXE Connects, a one-stop service fair for core neighborhoods.
As a resident of the Queen Elizabeth neighborhood, DeeAnn currently acts as the Secretary on the QEXCA Community Association, and has volunteered as the Communications Chair previously. In her free time she also volunteers with the Nuit Blanche Saskatoon planning committee, and is a proud member of the board of Sum Theatre. This year she returns as co-chair of National Philanthropy Day, which honours donors who give to local Saskatoon charities. DeeAnn holds a Communications degree from Trinity Western University and an English degree from the University of Saskatchewan.
The BBID is poised to go through a major reboot this fall with the summer street construction finishing up, the launch of a new district brand and a new BBID ED. With a focus on the integration of community, culture and commerce, the role of the BBID is to help lead this historic district into the 21st Century. DeeAnn is looking forward to welcoming visitors, residents and businesses to a sustainable and healthy Nutana and working in concert to bring out the best of Broadway’s unique village atmosphere.
