What’s Happening on Broadway: Saskatoon Events October 8 – 14

Looking for things to do in Saskatoon this week or this weekend? Broadway has another full week ahead, with live music, comedy, films, trivia, art, games and community programming happening throughout the district from October 8 – 14.

Thanksgiving weekend gives you even more reason to spend some time in the neighbourhood. Whether you’re looking for a concert, an afternoon activity, a movie, a trivia night or simply somewhere to meet up with friends, here’s what’s happening in the Broadway District this week.

Art on Broadway throughout the week

Before we get into the daily calendar, Like a Rolling Stone – Habitat by Saskatchewan fibre artist Heike Fink continues at the Saskatchewan Craft Council Gallery.

Thousands of felted elements help create an interactive landscape of rocks, flora, fauna and textile work, with visitors invited to move and rearrange parts of the installation. The exhibition runs through October 24 at 813 Broadway Avenue and is free to visit Tuesday through Saturday from 11:00 AM – 5:30 PM.

Thursday, October 8

There are things happening from morning right through to late night Thursday.

At Cosmo Seniors Centre, the day begins with the regular Forever in Motion exercise class at 10:00 AM. The program is designed for older adults and incorporates seated and standing exercises focused on mobility, strength and balance. Social Bridge follows at 12:45 PM, with both programs offered on a drop-in basis.

In the evening, 3 Hall Public House hosts its regular Weekly Trivia at 7:00 PM.

At The Broadway Theatre, Lunch at Allen’s – Farewell Tour takes the stage at 7:30 PM. The second Saskatoon performance brings together Murray McLauchlan, Cindy Church, Marc Jordan and Ian Thomas, marking the final tour for the Canadian singer-songwriter collective after more than two decades of performing together.

Later, Buds On Broadway welcomes Freight Liner for Thursday night live music.

Friday, October 9

Start Friday with Chair Yoga at Cosmo Seniors Centre, or stop into Saskatchewan Craft Council between 11:00 AM and 5:30 PM for Like a Rolling Stone – Habitat.

At the Broadway Theatre, NAZA screens at 7:00 PM. Directed by Yuval Abraham and Rachel Szor, the 77-minute documentary examines the systems behind Israel’s bombing of Gaza and the killing of Palestinian civilians. The film received the Special Jury Prize at the 2026 Venice Film Festival.

The theatre follows it at 9:30 PM with Twilight – Drunken Cinema, presented by High Key Brewing. The interactive 19+ screening includes game cards, drink specials and a vampire costume contest.

Over at Black Cat Tavern, The Corps with Me The Guts & Guests begins at 9:00 PM, bringing a punk-rock Friday night to Broadway.

At Amigos Cantina, Chris Murphy of Sloan with Peter Elkas takes the stage at 10:00 PM. Murphy brings songs and stories from more than three decades with Sloan and his many side projects, while Elkas brings his own long career as a singer-songwriter, producer and touring musician. The show is 19+.

Buds on Broadway also has Dangerous Cheese Friday night, while Prairie Sun Brewery continues its P-SUN-SETS Friday-night programming.

Saturday, October 10

Saturday offers one of the most varied days of the week.

The Saskatchewan Craft Council Gallery is open from 11:00 AM – 5:30 PM, but just around the corner there’s another creative reason to explore the neighbourhood.

Creatures of the Night Market YXE returns to the Cosmo Seniors Centre for an extra October edition of its Witchy, Weird & Wonderful Market. The market runs Saturday from 1:00 PM – 9:00 PM and brings together 30+ handmade artisans, readers and mystics. Cosmo Café will be serving handmade soup and bread; the event is free, and all ages are welcome, and after 5:00 PM the space transitions into a lower-sensory twinkling night-market atmosphere. A fundraising raffle will also support Riversdale Community Fridge.

At Buds on Broadway, the Saturday Afternoon Jam with Micheal Lander adds live music to the afternoon, followed later by another night of Dangerous Cheese.

At 7:30 PM, Australian comedian Luke Kidgell brings his Live in Canada tour to the Broadway Theatre. Kidgell is known for fast-paced stand-up, storytelling and crowd interaction; the Saskatoon performance is currently sold out.

Prairie Sun Brewery also continues P-SUN-SETS Saturday night.

Getting ready for Thanksgiving?

If the weekend also means getting Thanksgiving dinner sorted, several Broadway businesses can help.

Christies Il Secondo has Thanksgiving 2026 pre-orders open, including farmhouse buns, pastry trays, tart boxes, cookies and a Thanksgiving Box filled with seasonal treats. Full-size pies are also available in limited quantities.

Steep Hill Food Co-op has been taking reservations for locally sourced Thanksgiving turkeys, including brined birds from Original Family Farm and free-range, antibiotic-free turkeys from Golden View Colony. Steep Hill is closed on statutory holidays, so Saturday or Sunday is the time to make that final grocery run.

Calories Restaurant also has Thanksgiving options through Calories at Home, including Thanksgiving dinner and desserts for pickup.

Sunday, October 11

The Extra Witchy, Weird & Wonderful Market returns to Cosmo Seniors Centre for day two from 1:00 PM – 7:00 PM, giving you another chance to browse local makers, readers and unusual finds.

At the Broadway Theatre, Breathe Better Air Quality Specialists is hosting free screenings of Halloweentown at 2:00 PM and Halloweentown 2 at 4:00 PM. Admission is free with a monetary or non-perishable food donation to the Saskatoon Food Bank & Learning Centre, making this a particularly good family-friendly Thanksgiving-weekend option on Broadway.

Later Sunday, the Broadway Theatre screens NAZA at 7:00 PM and again at 9:00 PM.

Buds on Broadway hosts its Sunday Night Jam with Peter Alward, while Cocktail continues its weekly Domingo Disco Sunday programming.

Monday, October 12

It’s Thanksgiving Monday, so some Broadway businesses and organizations will be closed or operating on adjusted holiday hours. Check with individual businesses before heading out.

For those looking for an evening out after Thanksgiving dinner, the Broadway Theatre has two more screenings of NAZA, at 7:00 PM and 9:00 PM.

At Buds on Broadway, Comedy Night with Eric Bzowy begins at 8:00 PM, providing a little Monday-night comedy to close out the long weekend.

Tuesday, October 13

Tuesday brings the regular daytime community programming back after the long weekend.

At Cosmo Seniors Centre, Forever in Motion exercise begins at 10:00 AM, followed in the afternoon by Social Bridge and Mahjong. The programs are low-cost drop-ins aimed at creating both activity and opportunities to socialize.

In the evening, Buds on Broadway brings back Music Videos, while Prairie Sun Brewery hosts its regular Tuesday Trivia Night.

Wednesday, October 14

Wednesday starts with Chair Yoga at Cosmo Seniors Centre at 10:00 AM, followed by Kaiser beginning around 12:45 PM. Saskatchewan Craft Council is also open from 11:00 AM–5:30 PM.

At 7:00 PM, the Broadway Theatre presents Akira (Frame by Frame) – New Restoration! The landmark 1988 Japanese animated film returns to the big screen in a new restoration, giving longtime fans, and anyone who has only ever seen it at home, a chance to experience it in a theatre. At 9:15 PM, the theatre has another screening of NAZA.

Elsewhere in the district, Amigos Cantina hosts its weekly Pub Stumpers Trivia Night at 8:00 PM, while Buds on Broadway welcomes Izzy Parker for Wednesday-night live music.
