The Saskatchewan Masonry Institute (SMI) was incorporated in 1980 when members of the Saskatoon and Regina Masonry Contractors Associations joined together to form a province-wide organization.
But the roots of SMI go much deeper – back to the province’s early years. The first building boom attracted skilled bricklayers and stone masons from eastern Canada and Europe. Their workmanship lives on in many of our finest buildings – land titles offices, court houses, schools, hospitals and more.
Today, SMI is the official voice of the masonry industry in the province. It is comprised of professional masonry contractors, producers, and suppliers who are dedicated to the promotion of quality masonry wall systems.
