The Poster Bylaw in Saskatoon is all about making sure posters can be put up in a way that’s safe, clean, and doesn’t clutter up the city. It allows people to share information while keeping things organized and easy to navigate.
The bylaw also makes sure people can’t cover up posters that are still good and in the right spot. If the rules are broken, fines can range from $200 for a first offence to $1,000 for companies.
Poster Requirements
Posters can only be placed on specific spots like community bulletin boards, barrels, or certain poles—like streetlights or traffic signal poles.
Size of Poster: A poster must not exceed 11 inches by 17 inches in dimension.
Date: A poster must include the date it was put up.
Fastening Devices: A poster may only be attached with clear packing tape or other easily removable tape.
Number of Posters: Only one poster for each event or advertisement may be attached at a permitted location at one time.
For elections, there are extra rules on when posters can go up and when they need to come down— to learn more contact the Broadway BID office.
Removal of Posters
In general all posters are taken off every third Wednesday of the month. However, posters have to come down within 30 days or when the event is over. Election posters need to be taken down within 7 days after the event.
